My daughter wanted to learn barrel racing, so we found the best horse we could find and purchased Rio, three years later she lost interest. She is a dog groomer now and competes in the AKC dog agility trials and has her own trail horse.
I enrolled Rio in the APHA's Ride America program and decided to make him my trail horse(600+hrs). He can now cross water, bridges etc. He crosses bridges with traffic under us , over us, wood bridges, covered bridges etc. He will obediently do all of this for me but he doesn't really enjoy it like I had hoped. So I am offering him for sale. He loves the barrels and is very good. He is fast and can finish that last barrel, run for the finish line , then just say whoa and he drops him head and walks off like a gentleman. The lady who used to barrel race him was doing it in 15. seconds, and competed at Cowtown,NJ.He is suitable for the beginner and the seasoned barrel racer.I have been trail riding him with a rope hackamore, but he races in a Tom Thumb. Rio trailer loads, stands for the vet, farrier, dentist. He has allot of personality. Rio was competing when we bought him, My daughter barrel raced him at our county fair and at many local funshows. She did pole bending, barrel racing, and games on Rio. I have done some judged trail rides and just recreational trail riding, but his big talent is in barrel racing. I have trained using natural horsemanship priciples(Parelli). He would need about 30 days to get fit to compete, that is why I am offering him at this very low price. Price $ 5,000 |
