My daughter wanted to learn barrel racing, so we found the best horse we could and purchased Rio. She raced him for a few years and has now lost interest.She is a dog groomer now and competes in the AKC dog agility trials.
He loves the barrels and is very professional and quick. He is fast and can finish that last barrel, cross the finish line ,then just say whoa and he drops him head and walks off like a gentleman.The lady who used to barrel race him was doing it in 16.something seconds, and competed at Cowtown,NJ. He is obedient enough and fast enough for the serious competitor.I have been trail riding him with a rope hackamore,he has an easy mouth

Rio was competing when we bought him, He barrel races, pole bends, trail rides,fun game shows, and has done some team penning , knows the Parelli 7 games.I have done some judged trail rides( with placements) and just recreational trail riding, but his big talent is in barrel racing.
